This unit at Compassvale is a resale HDB apartment with an estimated floor area of 1200 sqft. It features a Contemporary style. This unit is all about embracing the art of simple minimalism. For those unaware, this design is highly-popular among urban living in Singapore. From a mere trend, it has evolved to become part of the living lifestyle over there. For this unit, the designer utilized different textures and color hues to make the interior's aesthetic stand out. For instance, the designer used wood as its primary texture since it is like fine wine and gets better with age and never loses its aesthetic beauty. In recent years, wood is gaining high acceptance in contemporary design due to its sustainable edge, enriching flair, and beauty to the eyes. On top of that, wood is also highly valued for its versatility and can be mixed and matched in the most creative matter possible. On the other hand, the designer uses natural white marble as its secondary texture since this type of material is prided for its purity, durability, and gorgeous white color. There is a possibility that the designer uses Italian marble for a high-polished look although we are not confirmed. The primary color used is white since white is a hallmark of the minimalist look, while brown is the secondary color due to its contemporary stylishness.
We would like to recommend this designer as they have many positive reviews and testimonials from past clients on the internet. For example, some have said that the designer put great effort into making the designs come true, while others commented on his excellent work ethic in handling a renovation job. Furthermore, some also commented that the designer was right on schedule and thoroughly explained every nitty gritty detail of the design process to the clients before starting the job. On top of that, the designer was attentive and responsive to the client's questions and worked hard to make the working relationship a good experience for both parties.
However, be prepared to pay a little bit more for the price tag of the entire renovation since the designer only uses quality materials. For example, this can be seen in the marble tiles across the walls and the wooden flooring.
The living room has a Carpentry Work customized tv feature wall with Hong Lee's Italy Staturio white natural marble set against a Nippon pristine white-painted background. The glossy white marble along with vinyl wooden flooring serves as a striking balance to the overall white hue. Over here, minimalism is the key purpose since the furniture and decor are uncluttered and placed nicely. However, the elaborately decorated Ikea Christmas tree on the left is the main centerpiece or object due to its strikingly glitzy features. The center of the living room is also the seated sofa while its left corner is the wooden dining table with a duo of bar-height chairs in greys and pinks.
The living room has a comfortable-looking grey-colored four-seater armrest sofa conveniently situated across the large screen wall-hung black tv. Thus, this means that the user can sit on the sofa comfortably and watch their favorite drama or blockbuster series anytime when they have spare time. If not, they can lounge and have a short restful siesta since the four-seater feature of the sofa gives them the advantage to fully stretch their tired bodies to the limit and sleep on it. Besides that, the Speedy Decor customized dual-toned wooden tv console matches the warm brown color of the wooden floor and the Horme Hardware four-blade ceiling fan with remote provides ample ventilation for the entire room.
The dining table has a minimalist-style Singaporehomefurniture Lisse Marble Dining table with elegant gold frame that is complemented by a design-matching upholstered dining bench and a trio of dining chairs. Moreover, the neutral grey shade of the dining bench is the same as the dining chairs, further complementing the warm light brown wooden flooring and its Nippon pristine white surroundings. On top of the counter of the cabinet on the right are random colorful decors, the most significant being a miniature IKEA Christmas tree in the middle. The trio of Nordic-style pendant lights hanging on the ceiling above helps to brighten up the entire room furthermore.
The kitchen has a large Speedy Decor customized cabinet that fits perfectly for a modern, young family. On top of that, the color combination of the kitchen cabinet matches well with the surrounding walls and flooring. Practicality meets contemporary design here, as the kitchen cabinet has a dash of marble-like swirl designs and built-in kitchen appliances for the user's easy convenience in running the daily humdrum of domestic chores. From a single glance, the kitchen appliances look sleek and of the latest range based on the sophisticated display of their outer appearance. The under-cabinet kitchen lights help to give the space a layered look while a pot of peace lily plant could help to improve the room's feng shui.
The bathroom has a Direct Carpentry Services customized modern design bathroom cabinet with a full display mirror and a built-in sink attached to its storage. For convenience's sake, the bathroom vanity is wall mounted so that the user can see their image on the glass mirror while brushing their teeth and grooming themselves. The black handles of the storage cabinet match the color of its countertop. Furthermore, all the bathroom appliances, like the cabinet, seat-on toilet, and shower cubicle, are strategically designed to suit the compact space of the bathroom. In addition, the spark of sunlight from transom-designed windows helps enhance the brightness of the room.
Overall, we feel that the design of the house has tons of personality that reflect the user's inner self and creativity. For example, this is reflected clearly in some elaborately decorated decor across the room, like the Christmas tree in the living room. The standard-sized Christmas tree is decorated elaborately from head to toe, with a shining golden star as the centerpiece on top of it, while the body is tastefully-hung with glitzy ornaments of all kinds. Nevertheless, this over-the-topness contrasts heavily with the neutral palette surroundings of the minimalist-designed living room. On the other hand, white marble and natural light wood are visible on the surface of the walls and the flooring. The white marble adds a high-polished and cool look to the bathroom and dining table surface, while the light brown wood displays a warm fuzzy appeal that heightens the Contemporary look to a notch.
