This unit at Bedok Reservoir is a resale HDB apartment with an estimated floor area of 1001 sqft. It features a Japan Muji style. Nonetheless, this unit was the magnum opus of the creatively gifted Singaporean design team company, Image Creative Design Pte Ltd. Ever since they first made their foray in the local ID market here, they have managed to successfully put on their ID renovation Midas touch on houses of all statures and sizes across the interior of Singaporean homes. The unit has a Muji Japanese interior design style that signify an exclsive and straightforward living room style, inspired by the world-famous Japanese Zen philosophy. It is defined by sophisticated fuss-free features, plenty of natural materials derived from Mother Nature, and barely-there but without being dull hints of celebrated design characteristics. For starters, there is plenty of clean-looking but functional high-end decors across the living spaces. Among the most notable examples would be the raised platform storage bed in oak wood in the bedroom spaces. Aesthetically speaking, it combines minimalistic aesthetics with uncomplicated functionality suitable for daily domestic usage. Likewise, it has a typical traditional Japanese vibe since these beds are a norm in most Japanese households in Japan. At the same time, this bed also helps the user to express their creativity and freedom due to its spacious and neverending space.


We are glad that we chose Image Creative Design for the renovation work of our unit. But initially, we have our doubts and fears for we did not know what we are going to expect from this popular and established company since it is the first time we enlisted their service. In the first round of the meeting, he listened and paid attention to our needs and wants since we specified where we wanted the Modern Luxury look. In the following meeting, he explained clearly to us the different activities and the costs involved for all materials and stuff..etc. Nonetheless, we gave the green light to him to proceed with the project. During the renovation, the designer and his team worked very hard to deliver what we want and they were always on time regardless of other busy commitments. He also updated us constantly on the progress and delivered our unit on time.

Here are our opinions on the renovation and design:

1. Kitchen | LG

The kitchen has a straight-shaped kitchen cabinet layout. The straight-shaped kitchen layout is excellent for an organized working space since everything is in sequence. Nevertheless, this straight-shaped kitchen layout has a Speedy Decor solid-wood kitchen cabinet with a sophisticated and uplifting flair due to its all-white shade. At the same time, the ExpressWindows aluminum swing windows are perfect for bringing in extra illumination to maximize the living spaces. On top of that, it is also built-in with the latest electrical kitchen utilities, like an LG 9kg front load Washer With AI Direct Drive and Steam LG for washing the dirty laundry.

3. Dining Area

The dining area has a set of four HipVan Dani dinner dining plates in white that is the perfect cutleries for a casual and laidback meal. Moreover, the HipVan table matters Kori spoon compliments the other cutleries for a complete dining experience with loved ones. At the same time, the HipVan Haynes table 2.2m in oak is warm and welcoming-looking due to its solid-wood material. Nevertheless, this wood dining table can withstand wear and tear for generations. On the other hand, the Vinciarts has an art piece that looks simple and Japanese-oriented due to its lovely Zen-like scriptures on the surface.

2. Bedroom

This bedroom has a Direct Carpentry raised platform bed in oak wood. Nevertheless, it is a cut above conventional beds due to the mini staircase leading up to the bed. At the same time, the bed is wide and spacious for the user to put other decors and furnishings for an aesthetic flair. But the HipVan "Dream" series mattress in queen-size is perfect as a space filler and ergonomic sleeping platform for the user to lie down and catch their fifty winks. However, the white Nippon walls behind the wooden bedstand could do with an art decor or a tapestry.

Final words

Overall, we can conclude and wrap it up by saying that the unit is designed for a quintessentially Japanese Muji style. For example, this unit is space-enhanced despite being initially a compact-sized unit. This factor can be seen clearly in its limited spaces that are heavily decluttered and maximized to full effect. But what makes this unit a cut above the rest? Naturally, it is the high-end decors and furnishings in the living room spaces. One of the most notable examples would be the Muji-style wooden sliding door in the living room area. Likewise, this type of sliding door is unique since it is reminiscent of the traditional Japanese Keijo-style doors that go back to the ancient Japanese era.

Finally, the theme across the house fits perfectly with everything surrounding it. For example, you find a lot of sleek and streamlined designs. In addition, the colors are minimalistic and natural.
